Upcoming Demo News!!!
Some new updates to the project have been introduced! While you continue to play the prototype and enjoy its features we would like to give you some teasers as to what is being improved!
-Boss Improvements: The mechanics for boss monsters have been greatly improved and streamlined! Boss monsters will now be more manageable to create and easier to implement, also making combat with them more interesting. This is done with tying special actions to animation events and triggers as opposed to strict timers and phases on everything with the old clunky system. We have also implemented more boss monster arena mechanics that are object based as opposed to all stuffed within the scripts tied to the boss, making the code run far more smoothly.
-Camera Controls: We are continuing to refine the interface system and camera control. In the Prototype we added in a simple camera rotation feature that allowed you to view multiple angles of the dungeons as you see fit. Now we have added in a scroll wheel zoom mechanic, allowing you to zoom in and out to suit your preferred viewing. This will also help with accessibility in that you can zoom in more to see objects or details that you may have not been able to notice or interact with before due to their size!
-Area of Effect and Bleed: Area of Effect mechanics can be tricky in any project, but we have implemented it in a flawless way. As the name implies, Area of Effect systems require you to be within range of a specific object or location to be affected. We have devised a working and streamlined system that is universal for both the player to use AND for enemies to use, reducing clunky mechanics! Also in this update we have added a Bleed system. This Bleed system will show up as an effect on the Effects Panel in the upper right corner of the screen under the Health and Mana bars. Like any effect it will have a UI image that correlates to the actual ability or effect used by the player or monsters. When that is up the player will take damage or stat reduction based on the percentage or amount set for the effect for a certain duration, being damaged or harmed each second until the effect is over.
In all, a LOT of work has been done on Legends of Commenrealm, and we are excited to release the Demo in Late DECEMBER!!! We hope you will give it a go!
